FIND AN EVENT IN YOUR STATE
Are We Missing A Date? CLICK HERE TO ADD YOUR EVENT
Lung Cancer is a devastating disease. Funding to develop improved screening, treatments and cures has been and continues to be woefully inadequate. We need to work together to improve awareness which in turn will hopefully lead to more support for requests for state and federal funds.
The purpose of this site is to provide all Lung Cancer event listings in one place. There are many worthwhile non-profit lung cancer advocacy sites but none list ALL events and some only list their own events.
Please find an event in your area and lend it your support. If there is no event, start your own. All these events started with just a few people. Many event organizers will help you with information about how to start an event. Your event doesn't need to raise money - raising awareness and assembling a mailing list for lobbying your representatives is just as useful a goal. If a state is not linked below, it has no event at this time. It sure would be great to see some type of awareness event in every single state.
- Number of Deaths: No progress. Five-Year-Survival-Rate: No progress. Lung cancer will remain the #1 cancer killer in 2009, claiming another 161,000 lives: three times as many men as prostate cancer, nearly twice as many women as breast cancer. More people will die from lung cancer this year than breast, prostate, colon, leukemia, ovarian and cervical cancerscombined.
- This deadly disease has taken about 1.6 million Americans since 2000! Of this number, almost one million of these Americans NEVER SMOKED or QUIT SMOKING often decades ago. This simply cannot be viewed as a 'smoker's disease; that is not to say that smoker's 'deserve' lung cancer. How did smokers become 'victims' while the tobacco companies continue to make billions in profits? There is NO legal additive drug like cigarettes. People are allowed to get hooked, told to quit and then allowed to die with little meanful treatment options available?
- If you want to read all the news about lung cancer research every week, subscribe to the email newsletter produced by the Caring Ambassadors Lung Cancer Program. There are a few such newsletters but none of them are nearly as informative and inmpressive as the emailer compiled by Cindy Langhorne, CAPS Program Director.

Purpose-built race cars and production cars with significant race histories from Porscheās break-out era are coming together for a day of appreciation and celebration. Gmünds, Glƶcklers, 550s, 550As, 718s, 718/2s, 804s, 904s, 356 Coupes, Speedsters, Convertible Ds, Elva Porsches, Dreikantschabers, Dolphins, and Poopers. You name it. That's Leonard Bernstein ā Lenny to his friends. UPSTAGE LUNG CANCER hosts a musical tribute to a man whose passion and inexhaustible zest for life was translated into electrifying music. Lenny packed many lifetimes into his 72 years until his untimely death from lung cancer in 1990.
ULC's production features award-winning Boston musical theater celebrities, including Leigh Barrett, Brian De Lorenzo, Hildy Grossman, and Scott Wahle. Songs are from Bernstein's legendary Broadway musicals (i.e., On the Town, West Side Story, and beautiful songs from less familiar works.
Joyce Kulhawik, Emmy-winning arts and entertainment critic returns as emcee. Timothy Evans is music director and Ilyse Robbins is choreographer/director.
ULC honors two distinguished guests. ULC/LUNGevity grant recipient Dr. Rebecca Suk Heist, of Mass General Hospital Cancer Center and ULC Fan Award recipient, Debra Morosini, MD, outstanding lung cancer activist and sister of Dana Reeve.
There will be a tantalizing silent auction before the show.
