FIND AN EVENT IN YOUR STATE
Are We Missing A Date? CLICK HERE TO ADD YOUR EVENT
Lung Cancer is a devastating disease. Funding to develop improved screening, treatments and cures has been and continues to be woefully inadequate. We need to work together to improve awareness which in turn will hopefully will lead to more support for requests for state and federal funds.
The purpose of this site is to provide all Lung Cancer event listings in one place. There are many worthwhile non-profit lung cancer advocacy sites but none list ALL events and some only list their own events.
Please find an event in your area and lend it your support. If there is no event, start your own. All these events started with just a few people. Many event organizers will help you with information about how to start an event. Your event doesn't need to raise money - raising awareness and assembling a mailing list for lobbying your representatives is just as useful a goal. If a state is not linked below, it has no event at this time. It sure would be great to see some type of awareness event in every single state.
- Number of Deaths: No progress. Five-Year-Survival-Rate: No progress. Lung cancer will remain the #1 cancer killer in 2009, claiming another 161,000 lives: three times as many men as prostate cancer, nearly twice as many women as breast cancer. More people will die from lung cancer this year than breast, prostate, colon, leukemia, ovarian and cervical cancers—combined.
- This deadly disease has taken about 1.6 million Americans since 2000! Of this number, almost one million of these Americans NEVER SMOKED or QUIT SMOKING often decades ago. This simply cannot be viewed as a 'smoker's disease; that is not to say that smoker's 'deserve' lung cancer. How did smokers become 'victims' while the tobacco companies continue to make billions in profits? There is NO legal additive drug like cigarettes. People are allowed to get hooked, told to quit and then allowed to die with little meanful treatment options available?
- If you want to read all the news about lung cancer research every week, subscribe to the email newsletter produced by the Caring Ambassadors Lung Cancer Program. There are a few such newsletters but none of them are nearly as informative and inmpressive as the emailer compiled by Cindy Langhorne, CAPS Program Director.

Shannon's aunt, Linda Hynes, was a lifelong New Jersey resident who was diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2004 and died just a short eight months later. A loving wife, mother and friend, Linda was described by her son, as "...caring, loving, strong, fun, energetic and confident...She will be truly missed, but she will live forever in those she has touched."
"My beautiful Aunt Linda was known by many as the life of the party whether it was a party of 2 or 200. Her favorite song was titled, I Hope You Dance. Her hope was for everyone to "dance" through life, so we started Linda's Hope in her memory. Join us as we celebrate her memory and raise funds for lung cancer research. And, in honor of my beautiful Aunt Linda, I HOPE YOU DANCE!"

Introducing the first annual Marjorie E. Korff SPEAK OUT! Award.
The award will be presented to Heather Unruh, WCVB Channel 5 Anchor, who has spotlighted lung cancer with her profiles of patients, research and treatments.
Help us as we spread the word about lung cancer at the first annual Uniting Against Lung Cancer Luncheon at the Pine Brook Country Club. The event was created to honor the memory of loved ones lost to lung cancer and celebrate local survivors.
This inaugural event will be co-chaired by Meryl Bralower, Sondra Levenson and Stephanie Steinberg. These women have become articulate advocates about the need to educate people about lung cancer. Too many associate this disease and its causes with smoking. This is simply not the case.
Meryl, a lung cancer survivor and never smoker, is one of the pioneers behind Uniting Against Lung Cancer New England. Since her diagnosis in 2005, Meryl's focus and mission has been to raise the profile of lung cancer and give it the attention it demands. Sondra and Stephanie have also been personally touched by this insidious disease. Sondra's sister and Stephanie's sister-in-law, Marjorie Korff, also a non-smoker, died of lung cancer in 2006. This event will celebrate Margie's life, as well as significantly increase awareness, encourage early detection, and fund ground breaking research. For more information about Margie please click here.
Join us! On May 19th we will announce two awards recognizing excellence in lung cancer research. Sponsoring one of these awards is a meaningful way to pay tribute to the life of a friend or family member or to celebrate a loved one’s survivorship. Contact us for more information about this special opportunity.
